SCRIPTED

Most of the situations I have constructed with the voice have either been scripted in terms of what the participant will say or in terms of what I, the artist, says to the participant. Like the Fluxus scores, the idea of using instructions and scripts is to allow structure for the execution to be carried out by any participant yet also create space for endless interpretations.

 

Over the three units of the MFA, the script has come to function more and more as something which the rest of the piece can hang from. For Bravado first hinted at the script with the karaoke-stylised news-story before becoming more prevalent in Say Hi From Me, with extracts taken from Cocteau's play The Human Voice.

 

Read Through would take this one step further and be the first time a script was to become not only a starting point for my work but a continuous thread through a number of pieces.
